What are your thoughts on Brett coming to Tampa?  On a personal tip, why is it that every time we [see you, you have] on a different pair of shoes?

Dee:  Well, IF Brett Favre is traded to Tampa, I will be a little disappointed.  Tampa is a decent team, but their division does not offer much competition, so it makes them appear to be better than what they are compared to other teams.  I would prefer to see Favre with a team that has a better chance at making the Super Bowl this year.  I won't speculate about where Favre will end up any longer simply because the situation seems to change hourly.  If he doesn't end up with the Bucs, maybe you will still see him in Tampa in February.

To answer your question about my heels, I like shoes.  I have several pairs, so I try to wear as many different ones as possible.  I know that when you guys see me around the stadium or coming over for Madden you view me as one of the boys, but I am a woman; and like many women, shoes are my weakness.

Who will make the biggest impact as a rookie this year?  Not, who will be the [best] as far as numbers, but who [do] you think will help [their] team the most?

Dee:
Great question.  I think that three guys will have the biggest, immediate impact for their teams.

1) Glenn Dorsey- This DT for the Chiefs is desperately needed in Kansas City.  He is as tough as they come.  He will definitely help the defensive line out.  Keep in mind that he played over half of his last season on a sprained knee and still anchored the defense at LSU.

2) Jerod Mayo- His impact may take a little be longer to see, but by the end of the season, this ILB for the Pats will be felt all over the field.  He is a playmaker.

3) Derrick Harvey- Gregg Williams is going to be using him in the Jaguars' defense.  This defensive end will fit in well with the new defense that Williams plans to run.  They pride themselves on their defense and he fits right in.

I guess that it's obvious I'm a lady who believes in defense.  And to your Madden challenge; name the time and place.  You don't want it with me on Madden sweetheart.

When and where is draft day for your fantasy league this year?

Dee:  Why didn't you call me to ask me that?  LOL  Only you would expect me to divulge that information to the world.  If you are only participating in the league that you were in with us last year, it's in the same place.  The tentative date is September 1, 2008 (Labor Day).  And to your comment about me being hurt about picking last, I'm not.  Pick whomever you so choose, but I will still be victorious.  Last pick just means that I am the CHAMP and believe me I am prepared to defend my title.  I can pick first or last and will still beat all of you guys again.  My team's name is not the Florida Dynasty for nothing.

What would be on your agenda to do for the league if you became commissioner right now?

Dee:  I would make it fun again.  I want the NFL to be fun and profitable for all parties involved (past, present, and future).  Celebrations that are done in good taste such as popcorn in the endzone, sharpies, cheerleader proposals, etc. would be brought back.  Nothing violent, derogatory, explicit etc. would be allowed.  Grown men could use common sense.  I would form a committee to put together several MORE charity events for the league to participate in during the off season to attempt to help keep some guys out of trouble while assisting their communities.  I would make a requirement that guys would have to responsibly invest a small percentage of their income in long term investments.  Even if they only invest 3%-5%, I just need them to begin to take more responsibility for their financial futures.

After all of that, it would be time to get down to business.  I would ask for all of the financial records from each team over the past three years and we would go from there after I review the records.

Oh, and how could I forget, I would try as hard as possible to get Gene Upshaw to resign from his position as the executive director of the NFLPA.

I want to know how your favorite team, the Jaguars, are looking on both sides of the ball this season.

Dee:  First of all, Franklin, the Jaguars are not my favorite team.  I know and understand why everyone feels that they should be my favorite team, but as a professional, I love all 32 teams (although this is a Raider Nation...lol).

Now, to give my opinion on how the Jags look this season, they look good as long as they stay healthy.  Right now on both sides of the ball everyone seems to be on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list. The defense is looking good, which is no surprise.  I am most impressed with the new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.  He will be utilizing players (especially Reggie Nelson) in some creative ways.  The offense is a bit more fragile, although Troy Williamson seems to be the break out player.  Keep in mind that he looked great in the Vikings training camp this time last year and he didn't produce on the field during the season.  The rushing game still looks good with Taylor and Jones-Drew, but Garrard must prove that he is worth his contract.  I am nervous about the O-Line, but all in all, the team is looking good and just may be able to take the Colts out of their top spot in the division if the Colts don't get and stay healthy.

Do you think that the N.F.L is to hard on black players?

Dee:  I have noticed some things that make me believe that the NFL targets and has less tolerance for blacks, but ask me this question again after the Matt Jones case plays out and after Adam Jones is or is not reinstated into the league.

Do you think that I should take  Adrian Peterson over LT?  What defense is best for fantasy and what round should I take the defense?

Dee:  Yes, take LT before Peterson unless you are a risk taker.  I'm sure that you realize that just because a player is better in reality does not always mean that you take him first in fantasy.  There are several factors to consider.  One great thing about LT is that his schedule becomes much easier towards the end of the season.  Peterson is very injury prone, so it is hard to know if he will last a season.  It's a risk, but it could pay off.

As far as defense/ special teams go, I think that the Chargers would be a good pick for first.  They are solid, but we do not seem to have a defense that is the stand out option.  I feel that the Bears' defense/ special teams will be back to their old selves this season, but until Hester shows up to camp, I probably wouldn't take them too high.  Then we have the Pats.  They are a good unit (although they would have been better with Asante Samuel, I'm sure) and they play against some not so great offenses in their division.

Most "experts" say to choose your defense in the 14th and 15th rounds.  During the '07-'08 season I took the Bears defense/ special teams in round 2.  I won the Championship.  Last season I took the Patriots defense in round 7.  I won the Championship.  I usually base the decision on how badly I want a defense and if I have other must have players that I think people will may snatch before I do, but my fantasy strategy in general is much different from that of most people, and Keith you know I can't tell you that since you are in my league this season.

Is Favre even coming back and if he is what team do you think they will trade him to?

Dee:  Yes, I believe that Favre will be back as long as he goes to a team that has a realistic shot at the Super Bowl this season.

NFL Network reported that the Packers have spoken to over twenty teams about a trade for Favre.  With that being said, he could end up anywhere, realistically.  I do feel that they want to send him to the AFC, but the Bucs and Vikings seem to be the most interested.  The Packers would prefer to see him with the Bucs for obvious reasons.

The Packers did file tampering charges against the Vikings for holding conversations with Favre.  I heard a report on a sports radio station today saying that someone from the Vikings organization said that they would not comment except to say that they are very excited about the first regular season game.  Their first regular season game is at Lambeau Field, so some are speculating that they are confident that they will get Favre.  If these reports are true, then they are willing to give up a great deal to get him(including the draft picks and fines that they may incur if they were found guilty of the tampering charges), so I would think that Favre would become a Vike.

With all of this being said, no one truly knows for certain right now (unless their lips are sealed), so I will try to keep you all updated Ron J.

Who do you think will be [the] Raven's QB this year, or do [they] know?

Dee:  Troy Smith, Kyle Boller, and Joe Flacco (rookie) are all competing for the coveted position for the Ravens.  As of now, Boller seems to be out of the running.  Smith looked good during OTAs and the reports all said that the Ravens were leaning towards Smith, but only training camp and pre-season would determine if they wanted to start him.  With that being said, I think that we will see Flacco get a great deal of playing time to begin.  He just signed a $30 million contract for five years with $8.75 million in guaranteed money.  That is not the contract of someone who will ride your bench.  I liked the way Smith was looking, but if I had to put money on it (let's say $8.75 million), I would say that Flacco will be the QB in Baltimore this year.

Christie, July 12, 2008
Who do you predict for the Super Bowl?

Dee: Well Christie, most analysts and writers are predicting that we will see either a Cowboys and Chargers match-up or a Cowboys and Patriots battle.  The NFC Cowboys I agree with (unless the Vikings can somehow obtain Mr. Favre), but I believe that we will see the Colts in Tampa for the Super Bowl this season.  So, my prediction is that it will be the Cowboys over the Colts.
